Guy (Elks Barber) is now working at GEM Barbershop located at 512 Sixth Street, New Westminster, BC.

Elks Barber is a classic or “old school” men’s barbershop, a welcoming and comfortable place. You will find a casual setting and wide-ranging conversation.

Victoria Day in British Columbia is a statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday preceding May 24, honouring Queen Victoria’s birthday (May 24, 1819). But then you already knew that.

In 2026, Victoria Day falls on Monday, May 18. It’s also informally seen as the kickoff to summer, with parades, festivals, and outdoor activities across the province. Did you know the United Nations organization UNESCO, considers New Westminster’s May Day an expression of “Living Culture”. New Westminster has hosted a May Day celebration for 156 years in a row.

In New Westminster, look for Victoria Day activities on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Check out the New West May Day website for information.

I will take a few days off to join in the festivities. Elks Barbershop will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026 as usual; and to celebrate we will also be closed for business on:

  • Tuesday, May 26, and
  • Wednesday, May 27.

We will reopen business on Thursday, May 28, 2026..

Welcome to Elks Barber Shop in New Westminster Uptown.

Guy has been barbering for almost 40 years; yes, it is hard to tell since Guy looks so young.

Tradition is going strong at Elks Barber Shop! While the location has changed a couple of times, Elks Barber Shop has been operating and serving in New Westminster for almost 60 years. Guy Quesnel has been running this family business since 1994 taking over from his father and grandfather.

Elks Barber Shop offers classic or “old school” barbering, a warm and casual atmosphere, and friendly conversation.
